Banks Issued 1.5 Billion UAH in Mortgage Loans in May
In May 2026, Ukrainian banks issued 776 mortgage loans totaling over 1.5 billion UAH. The leaders in the number of loans were the Kyiv region and the capital. The average effective rates were 8.15% in the primary market and 9.4% in the secondary market. In the primary market, 413 loans were issued for 827 million UAH, of which 206 loans for 387 million UAH were secured by property rights on future real estate. In the secondary market, 363 loans were issued for 701 million UAH. The share of non-performing loans is about 12%. In the Kyiv region, 278 loans were issued for 556 million UAH, accounting for 36% of the total volume. In Kyiv, 156 contracts were concluded for 342 million UAH. Among other regions, Lviv region leads with 46 loans for 106 million UAH, Ivano-Frankivsk region with 32 loans for 61 million UAH, and Odesa region with 30 loans for 47 million UAH. The study involved 38 banks covering over 95% of the mortgage portfolio.
