South Korea Establishes 50 Trillion Won Semiconductor Fund and Trade Financing

South Korea will establish a semiconductor fund worth 50 trillion won, focusing on investments in chip materials, components, and fabless companies. This initiative is part of the government's plan to build a semiconductor cluster. Additionally, the South Korean government will provide 50 trillion won in trade financing to support export-oriented suppliers. The government plans to push for the passage of the "Special Act on Large-Scale Industrial Complexes" within the year to expedite the approval of permits, environmental assessments, and infrastructure development in related areas. In terms of infrastructure, the government aims to secure 650,000 tons of water supply for semiconductor projects in the Hunan region by 2030 and plans to provide 14.7 gigawatts of electricity for the Yongin semiconductor cluster by 2041.
