Ibiden Stock (4062): Price, Board Talking Points and Outlook

By: WEEX|2026/07/19 15:43:25

Ibiden (TSE: 4062) is a Tokyo-Stock-Exchange Prime electronic-component maker that, per Bloomberg (December 2024), supplies AI-server IC package substrates to NVIDIA on a near-exclusive basis. The stock ran from ¥6,592 on January 9, 2026 to ¥27,480 on July 1 — roughly 4.2× (+317%) — then fell 43% in a little over two weeks, closing at ¥15,685 on July 17. Among the four semiconductor names in this cluster its board is the most evenly split. Note that a 1-for-2 stock split took effect on January 1, 2026, so pre-2026 prices need adjustment. This page summarizes the board talking points as of July 2026, the business and the AI cycle, and how to read the stock.

Board and community talking points

After a 43% drop from the peak, the board is dominated by supply-demand and valuation arguments. The main themes observed in mid-July 2026:

  • Fear of forced margin selling. The most visible thread is whether leveraged longs get liquidated into the coming week — a supply-demand debate, not a fundamentals one.
  • Reverse-engineering "fair value" from the P/E. Using the company forecast, posters calculate the price "at a 50–60× P/E" — board arithmetic, not company plans or analyst estimates.
  • Seller's regret and a split vote. "I should have sold at ¥27,000" recurs among trapped holders, alongside bottom-fishers, downtrend-watchers and Kioxia-contagion talk; as of July 19, 2026 the gauge was roughly 36% "strong sell" versus 33% "strong buy" (point-in-time data that drifts).

These are views observed on the board, not our opinion or recommendation.

The business and the AI cycle

Ibiden was founded in 1912 as Ibigawa Electric Power in Ogaki, Gifu, and has moved from its founding power business into printed wiring boards and IC package substrates; electronics now account for more than half of sales. Bloomberg (December 2024) reported that it supplies AI-server IC package substrates to NVIDIA on a near-exclusive basis, and that supply is likely to stay tight even after expansion.

The striking feature is how the expansion is financed. Per Toyo Keizai, Ibiden plans roughly ¥500 billion of capital spending over the three years to FY2028 — larger than its FY2025 revenue of about ¥420 billion — funded by customer prepayments reported at around ¥220 billion from Intel and ¥280 billion from NVIDIA. The framing is that, as AI chips grow larger generation over generation, customers now pre-fund the capacity; the same article also flags bubble risk.

FY3/2026 (announced May 11, 2026) delivered sales of ¥416.2 billion (+12.7%), operating profit of ¥62.0 billion (+30.3%) and net profit of ¥63.7 billion (+89.0%). Net profit exceeds operating profit here, so the 89% figure should not be read as the underlying operating growth rate. The FY3/2027 company plan is sales of ¥500 billion (+20.1%) and operating profit of ¥90 billion (+45.1%), led by high-function IC package substrates for generative-AI servers. Alongside the January 1, 2026 split, the company runs a progressive dividend policy, with a FY3/2027 plan of ¥35 per year.

How to read the stock

On a split-adjusted basis the shares ran +317% from a 52-week low of ¥6,592 on January 9, 2026 to a peak of ¥27,480 on July 1, then fell to ¥15,685 by July 17 (−9.88% that day, −43% from the peak). Market cap is about ¥4.4 trillion. The forward P/E at the July 17 price is around 75×; applying the same company forecast to the ¥27,480 peak implies roughly 130× — a reminder that a valuation number only means something paired with the price and date it was computed at. PBR is 7.96× and the dividend yield 0.22% (as of July 17, 2026).

In the middle of the sell-off the sell side moved the other way: on July 17 an upgrade to "bullish" with a ¥21,500 target (tracked by IFIS) was observed. Bulls cite the near-exclusive NVIDIA-substrate position, prepayment-backed expansion and a +45% operating-profit plan. Cautious observers note the high multiple against deteriorating margin-trading supply, the volatility, and that the prepayment model can run in reverse if AI investment thins. This page sets no price target. The next checkpoint is the first-quarter result, reported to be early August 2026 (confirm the date with company IR).

Trading US semiconductor tokens on WEEX

The AI-server investment that Ibiden's substrates feed into is a theme expressed worldwide through US semiconductor names such as NVIDIA (NVDA). To buy Ibiden shares themselves, the standard route is a Japanese brokerage account. On WEEX you can instead trade NVDA via futures (leverage, long or short) and on the spot market, plus tokenized US-chip products such as AMDON, MUON, ARMON, INTCON and SNDKON. Tokenized stocks are not the shares themselves; they are tracking instruments linked to the price of the underlying stock.

WEEX offers crypto assets and tokenized US-stock products — not Japanese single stocks such as Ibiden or any proxy for them.
