World, a Solana-based prediction market platform, officially launched as a standalone service on Thursday, opening access to more than 1 million users on its waitlist after previously operating in embedded form through Phantom.
The platform said its initial lineup includes markets tied to the NFL regular season, seven major football leagues, Formula 1, the 2026 U.S. midterm elections and the Federal Reserve’s next interest rate decision. Each market is presented as a binary yes-or-no contract priced from $0 to $1.
World said it has already launched more than 150,000 markets since July while operating through Phantom in an embedded format. The standalone launch marks a shift from wallet-level distribution to a dedicated platform with a broader product surface.
On the infrastructure side, World said it uses Chainlink Data Streams and the Chainlink Runtime Environment to supply market data and automate settlement. The company said that setup replaces more traditional manual review processes, an important design choice for a platform built around event-based contracts.
World also outlined a wider product roadmap. Future markets are expected to cover stock price moves, commodities including gold, silver, oil and natural gas, computing power, and weather outcomes for major cities. All contracts are settled in CASH, the stablecoin used within Phantom’s ecosystem.
Why It Matters
The launch adds to a growing push to bring real-world event trading on-chain in a format that is easier to scale and settle automatically. World’s expansion beyond sports into elections, rates, commodities and equities shows how prediction-market products are broadening from niche crypto use cases toward more general event exposure.
It also ties together several parts of the Solana stack: wallet distribution through Phantom, stablecoin-based settlement and oracle-driven automation through Chainlink. If that model gains traction, it could strengthen the case for consumer-facing on-chain applications that depend on fast settlement, external data and simplified market formats.
