TSMC plans to raise prices for mature process wafer foundry services starting in January next year. Despite the price increase, IC design firms will still strive for more capacity support than this year to expand their operational scale. As the prices for mature processes from packaging and testing firms and other foundries have risen, the production costs for ICs have increased, prompting design firms to negotiate price hikes with their clients. If TSMC confirms the price increase next year, design firms will need to renegotiate their quotes with clients, who may also pass the increased costs onto their customers, creating a chain reaction.
