The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) has approved new <> regulations for cryptocurrency transfers. These regulations will come into effect on February 27, 2027, and cryptocurrency companies have six months to establish the necessary infrastructure for sending and monitoring transaction information. Digital asset operators must verify ownership of their self-custody wallets. Additionally, companies are required to retain transaction information for at least five years. Pornanong Budsaratrakul, Secretary-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand, stated that the aim of these regulations is to reduce the risk of money laundering and terrorist financing. The rules were formulated after two rounds of public consultation, and most market participants have supported them. The implementation of the Travel Rule coincides with Thailand's efforts to expand investor access to regulated cryptocurrency products.
