On the evening of July 24, the Hudaydah region of Yemen was hit by airstrikes from a Saudi-led coalition. The coalition announced that the airstrikes targeted military positions of the Houthi forces, explicitly stating that the Hudaydah port was not among the targets and that all ports remain open for shipping. The coalition described the operation as a "measured military response," aimed at striking military objectives related to threats against commercial shipping in the Red Sea. Should the Houthi forces continue their "hostile" actions, the coalition vowed to respond "without compromise" and take necessary measures to protect its vessels and the interests of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Houthi-controlled "Masirah TV" reported that the airstrikes hit facilities of a state-owned telecommunications company in the city of Hudaydah and claimed that Saudi forces also attacked Kamaran Island.
