From December 2024 to June 2026, Russians transferred nearly 600 billion rubles to accounts of foreign brokers, exceeding the amount for the previous seven years. Monthly transfers abroad in April to June reached 42-45 billion rubles, of which about 40% represents actual money leaving Russia. 75% of these funds were used for "parking solutions," while 25% is related to preparations for emigration. At the same time, there has been a mass purchase of cash foreign currency in Russia: from April to June, net currency purchases by the population amounted to nearly 159 billion rubles. From January to July, about 2 trillion rubles transitioned from the banking system into cash, with 620 billion rubles occurring just in July. The main reasons for capital outflow are the tightening of Western sanctions and fears of repressive measures within the country. Currently, cash currency is being brought in through third countries, but potential new sanctions could lead to a shortage of dollars and euros in Russia.
