Ripple is strategically investing in ZILO and Licuido to expand its XRP Ledger (XRPL)-based institutional tokenization infrastructure. The scale of the investment and the equity stakes have not been disclosed. Ripple plans to connect regulatory fund issuance, payments, and collateral movement functions to the XRPL-based infrastructure. ZILO is a UK fintech company that provides a digital asset operating infrastructure and a transfer agent platform for fund managers. Licuido operates a digital capital market platform that combines tokenization and collateral utilization, offering a structure to tokenize money market funds (MMFs) and use those tokens as collateral. Nigel Caku, Ripple's Vice President, stated that both companies provide liquidity for regulatory digital transfer agent infrastructure and issuance and collateral movement. Licuido is already participating in the tokenization fund infrastructure utilizing the XRPL, and Ripple USD is a dollar-pegged stablecoin backed 1:1 by high-quality liquid assets. Ripple unveiled Ripple Mint on July 23, allowing institutions to issue, redeem, and manage Ripple USD. The timeline for the integration of functionalities between ZILO and Licuido has not been disclosed.
