Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella announced that the reconstruction following the earthquake on August 10 will require at least 30 trillion pesos, equivalent to approximately 9.5 billion dollars, according to projections from a private firm. He detailed that the reconstruction of buildings will cost around 24.5 trillion pesos (7.8 billion dollars) and infrastructure 5.5 trillion (1.7 billion dollars). The death toll stands at 289, with 4,187 injured and 143 missing, affecting more than 120,328 families, with 26,945 homes destroyed and over 127,557 homes damaged. De la Espriella emphasized that the data is preliminary and that his government will communicate consolidated information out of respect for the victims. Debris removal is already underway, although the chances of finding survivors are diminishing in Cali and Pereira. The president urged the brigades to continue rescue efforts as long as there is hope of finding someone alive.
