Meme Coins Directly Paired with Stock Tokens: The Real Reason Behind Robinhood Chain's Surge

Robinhood Chain is on a meteoric rise
Robinhood Chain is experiencing unprecedented growth.
In just two months since its launch, daily revenue has already surpassed $4 million. This is about twice that of Hyperliquid and 5 to 6 times that of Tron and Solana. This means it has already outpaced projects with fully diluted valuations often in the hundreds of billions, even accounting for two-thirds of the total revenue of all Ethereum L2s.
However, if you look back at its explosive growth trajectory, something seems off.
This is not the growth script we are familiar with for public chains.
Robinhood Chain flips the script
Most blockchain networks we have seen in the past follow a nearly identical growth path:
First, they launch basic DeFi applications, such as DEXs and lending markets; then flagship NFT projects; followed by ecosystem support programs and hackathons to introduce a batch of non-financial native projects, thickening and diversifying the ecosystem.
After that, retail-driven speculative projects—primarily meme coins—begin to take off. Once ecosystem growth hits a ceiling, they turn to RWA and institutional DeFi to seek the next wave of growth.
Robinhood does it almost completely in reverse.
Its core positioning is the stock token ecosystem. The official website states this clearly. On its first day, Robinhood Chain supported the issuance of stock tokens while integrating basic DeFi protocols like Uniswap and Morpho.
The early phase was relatively quiet. What truly ignited the growth was the meme coins.
Interestingly, the focus is not on CashCat.
CashCat did attract attention initially, but it did not break out of the meme coin playbook that other ecosystems have already explored.
Traditionally, meme coins on other chains are paired with native assets like ETH and SOL. Robinhood Chain changed this. Starting with LONG, launchpads like Pons (@ponsdotfamily) began allowing meme coins to be directly paired with stock tokens for issuance.
Meme coins and stock tokens. Two completely different asset classes suddenly thrown into the same market.
This approach took off. Pons once had daily revenue exceeding Hyperliquid and Pump.fun, with token prices skyrocketing and gaining even more attention.
New plays emerged, such as airdropping stock tokens to holders of certain meme coins.
The ecosystem exploded.
Robinhood's ability to completely flip the traditional public chain script can be attributed to several reasons:
Stock tokens were available from day one. Traditional public chains often place RWA at the end of their development path, a very realistic reason being that RWA only became a mainstream track in recent years. Robinhood Chain launched later but supported stock tokens from day one, making stock tokens the foundation for ecosystem growth rather than an afterthought.
The Robinhood brand. Robinhood is a traditional financial company, but its brand has always been closely tied to retail and degen culture. GameStop, options trading, crypto, meme stocks—Robinhood has been at the center of several major retail speculation waves in the U.S. over the past few years. Therefore, pairing stock tokens with meme coins feels more natural than it appears. Meme stocks are an off-chain phenomenon, and on Robinhood Chain, the same culture re-emerges in the form of “meme coins paired with stock tokens.”
Users and liquidity were already there. Most new chains start from scratch: first attracting developers, offering subsidies, and then trying to lure users in. Robinhood is different. It already has tens of millions of users, and stocks are familiar assets for these users, along with the massive distribution channel of Robinhood. On other chains, applications have to bring their own users; on Robinhood Chain, applications can follow the existing users and assets.
Directly reusing existing infrastructure. Robinhood doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel. Proven DeFi protocols like Uniswap and Morpho already exist, and developers can directly use existing EVM toolchains. The foundational layers that took other chains years to build are available for Robinhood from the start.
Robinhood Chain is carving out a growth trajectory we have rarely seen before.
Currently, meme coins have brought a significant amount of liquidity onto the chain.
What remains to be seen is how long this meme frenzy can last.
If the frenzy eventually subsides, what will be worth observing is whether Robinhood Chain can retain this liquidity and allow truly useful native projects to emerge from the ecosystem.
