Goldman Sachs and OKX have restricted access to Anthropic's Claude AI model for their Hong Kong staff. Both restrictions stem from geographic access rules set by Anthropic, occurring months apart. OKX barred its Hong Kong-based staff and those traveling through China from using Claude after a brief suspension of its corporate Anthropic account, which has since been restored. The exchange will now direct AI requests from Hong Kong employees to other models and will not assist in using VPNs to access Claude. OKX reportedly spends 6000000 to 8000000 dollars monthly on various large language model providers and mandates AI tool usage for engineering teams. Goldman Sachs restricted Claude access for its Hong Kong staff earlier in 2026 due to a contract issue, which also affected overseas staff visiting Hong Kong. Most users at Goldman were software engineers. Despite the restriction, Goldman continues to collaborate with Anthropic, embedding its engineers to develop AI agents for trade accounting and client vetting. The Hong Kong government supports AI adoption among financial firms, but restrictions from developers like Anthropic hinder this effort. Both firms face the same limitations imposed by Anthropic's geographic rules, reflecting a broader trend amid US-China competition in AI development.

Moderna shares more than doubled on 19 August 2026 after Merck and Moderna said the Phase 3 INTerpath-001 trial of intismeran autogene plus KEYTRUDA met its recurrence-free survival endpoint in resected melanoma.
