Gawkowski Announces New Cryptocurrency Legislation Project
Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski announced that the government is working on a new bill regarding cryptocurrencies. Meanwhile, analyses are underway to reject the presidential veto concerning the current project. Gawkowski stated that Donald Tusk's cabinet will present further proposals that will ensure security and comply with European regulations. He emphasized that creating regulations is in the interest of Poles to avoid fraud and enable legal operations for companies. He suggested that President Karol Nawrocki, by vetoing the bill, is protecting criminals. President Nawrocki has vetoed legislation regulating the blockchain industry in Poland three times, which raises controversy as it concerned nearly identical documents. The Sejm is preparing for another vote that could reject the third veto; however, the lack of sufficient votes in the ruling camp may hinder this. Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty appealed to Nawrocki to stop vetoing government bills, suggesting possible connections between the president and the zondacrypto exchange.
