Citi Projects Record Global Equity and Debt Financing for South Korean Companies by 2026
Citi Group expects that South Korean companies will set a record in global bond and equity issuance by 2026. Companies are raising growth capital through international investors, with SK Hynix's $26.5 billion U.S. listing being the most notable. Jangho Park, CEO of Citi Global Markets Korea, stated that South Korea is home to an increasing number of world-class companies and emerging industry leaders, who are increasingly utilizing capital markets under competitive financing conditions to raise funds for their growth objectives. The two major chip manufacturers in South Korea are becoming key beneficiaries of the global artificial intelligence infrastructure buildout. South Korea is seeking to push companies, including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, to invest at least 135 trillion won ($97.5 billion) in chip and data center construction, with many projects still in the early planning stages.
