BTCPay Server supporters are offering 10% of any recovered funds, capped at 3 BTC, approximately 190000 dollars, for the return of Bitcoin stolen in a recent exploit. The offer is open to anyone with information that could assist in recovering the funds, including the attacker. BTCPay emphasized the urgency of learning from mistakes and improving security measures. The project first alerted users about the attacks on Friday, advising them to install version 2.4.2 or take their servers offline. The exploit allowed attackers to obtain LND admin macaroons, granting control over a Lightning Network node and access to connected wallets. BTCPay has not disclosed the amount of Bitcoin stolen or the number of affected users. If multiple tips lead to recovery, the bounty will be divided among victims based on their losses and the usefulness of each tip. Additionally, the BTCPay Server Foundation will donate 0.21 BTC each to security researcher Craig Raw and the Bitcoin Red Team fund for responsibly disclosing the vulnerability. BTCPay is enhancing code reviews and prioritizing security patches, stating that defending software requires better tools and faster responses in the current threat landscape.

Bitcoin tore through the mid-$60,000s, cleared $70,000, blew past $75,000, and briefly touched $79,000+ before easing back to around $77,000 — a 20%+ move in a single week. The mood across crypto flipped almost overnight. But a violent rally is only the opening act. The more explosive the move, the more it calls for a clear, calm mind.
