Robbie Mitchnick, head of BlackRock's digital asset business, stated that Bitcoin holders can now exchange BTC for shares of the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) through physical redemption, with the minimum threshold reduced from $25 million to $1 million. This move allows more institutional investors and large Bitcoin holders to directly participate in the conversion between BTC and ETF shares. The physical redemption mechanism enables investors to directly exchange Bitcoin assets for ETF shares, reducing trading costs and enhancing the linkage efficiency between ETF products and underlying assets. Market participants believe that BlackRock's reduction of the IBIT physical trading threshold reflects traditional financial institutions further improving the Bitcoin ETF infrastructure. With more institutional investors participating, Bitcoin spot ETFs are expected to become an important channel connecting traditional capital markets and crypto assets.
