Barcelona Attempts to Sign Julián Álvarez from Atlético de Madrid

Prefer us on GoogleFC Barcelona will hold a new meeting with executives from Atlético de Madrid to try to incorporate Argentine forward Julián Álvarez. Sporting director Deco and chief scout João Amaral will travel to Madrid to negotiate the transfer of the 26-year-old player, just 11 days before the start of the 2026/27 LaLiga season. Barcelona's initial offers reached 100 million euros, but Atlético remains firm in its stance of not accepting less than 150 million. Atlético has employed various strategies to retain the player, including honoring the contract that binds him to the club until 2030 and threats of legal action. Julián Álvarez, who scored a goal against Switzerland in the 2026 World Cup, remains a player for Atlético de Madrid, the club he joined in August 2024 for 75 million euros.
