Apple Imposes Daily Limits on AI Features in macOS 27
Apple has stated in the release notes for macOS 27 Golden Gate that certain server-side model-based Apple Intelligence features will have daily usage limits. This update was rolled out to users on September 14. The restrictions apply to Siri AI, smart photo editing tools, Image Playground, and the AFM 3 Cloud model in Shortcuts, although specific details about the limits and recovery methods were not provided. The mentioned features include Spatial Reframing and Extend image editing capabilities, as well as the natural language shortcut builder in Shortcuts. macOS 27 has also restructured Siri, integrating it into Spotlight, allowing it to provide answers and perform actions using personal context. The update also includes Visual Intelligence, accessible via Command-Shift-Space, which reads the selected window and performs actions. Safari will group tabs by topic and monitor price changes on pages. Additionally, improvements have been made to AirDrop, search in Mail, and web browsing speed, with system support for ultra-wide displays up to 5K and 120Hz, along with parental controls and Liquid Glass visual effect adjustments.
