86% of Defense Industry Enterprises Confirmed Critical Status
The Ministry of Defense has completed the assessment of the criticality of defense industry enterprises. As of September 1, 2026, 86% of companies have confirmed their status and retained the right to reserve employees, while 14% of enterprises have lost this right. The review concerned decisions regarding the classification of enterprises as critical, made before July 7, 2026. Documents to confirm the status had to be submitted by August 10. For most companies, a simplified procedure was in place, which did not require resubmission of the full package of documents. The simplified procedure could be utilized by contractors and subcontractors of defense contracts, residents of Defence City, manufacturers of explosives and ammunition, as well as enterprises in the defense industry, aerospace, and space sectors. Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Gvozdiyar noted that the ability to retain key specialists is related to the fulfillment of defense orders. The 14% of enterprises that did not confirm their status can reapply to the Ministry of Defense and provide a full package of documents for compliance verification with established criteria.
